It is an upgraded version of 440B, which is another high-end Chinese stainless steel often used in premium barber scissors and medical instruments. This steel has a maximum Rockwell Hardness rating of 58-60 HRC and offers excellent durability due to the combination of Carbon, Chromium, and small amounts of Vanadium. Sharpening 9cr14MoV can be challenging due to its decent hardness.
